The 8 WEEK Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

@ Trillium Studio MKE

The curriculum of this course is based on the standard MBSR 8 week courses taught around the world and is endorsed by the Mindful Academy International as well as the Yoga Alliance. My teacher and mentor, Kathy Ward, has completed extensive training with the Centre of Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor and Oxford Universities in the UK (where Mindfulness is a Masters Program in the Psychology Department ). The focus of the course is to present theories and current research that support Mindfulness as a way to increase concentration, emotional resilience, and self-compassion.

The MSBR Course at Trillium Studio MKE will include the Mindful Academy international 150 page manual that outlines the information and practices covered in each of the sessions, as well as additional information to support the science and theory of Mindfulness. Students will also receive access to guided meditations to support them between sessions and after completion.

This is NOT Mindfulness Light. You will be encouraged to dive into your stress loops, your mind loops, and see what's present. The safe environment provided by the group is essential to this process.

A typical session will begin with Education which includes current developments in Neuroscience and Research from around the world - the why and how. The next stage is practice. Sitting or lying down, you will be lead through the practice we have just discussed, to learn about your own mind, heart, and body. The third part of each session involves Group Inquiry - an opportunity to share the challenges, the insights, the questions that arise as we practice. This course won't fix your life, but it will offer you a FRESH PERSPECTIVE, reinforcing that we are not alone and that we have more in common than we realize.

The 8 topics covered in the MBSR course will be:

Week 1

Exploring Mindfulness.

Week 2

Exploring our Perceptions and Relationship to the challenges and stressors in our lives.

Week 3

The Power of being present. Living all of our moments.

Week 4

Cultivating Curiosity and Openness to the Whole of my Experience.

Week 5

Building on our foundation of Mindfulness - Paying attention to our capacity to Respond to challenges and stressors.

Week 6

Interpersonal Mindfulness and Building Resilience.

Week 7

Lifestyle Choices, Cultivating Self Compassion, and Savoring when things are good!

Week 8

A Mindful Life. Keeping up Momentum.
